Presentation of Football Medals 2024

🏅🏅MEDAL PRESENTATION 🏅🏅

  • We were delighted to invite Ed Lonergan to present the “Eamonn de Paor” football medals to our winning boys team. Ed is a past pupil, and a number of years ago, he captained Knockanore NS to a western football title. On that victorious day, he was presented with his medal by Eamonn de Paor (Ned Power), his grandfather.

Jim Nicholson Hurling Shield

36 years later, and the annual Jim Nicholson Hurling competition is still going strong. It was great to have Jim, Ann and Mary in our company today to present the shield in person. Jim has been a big Shamrocks man over the years and a big supporter of Knockanore National School.

Jim presented the shield to the captain of the victorious Limerick team AJ Goulding.

Hard luck to runners up captained by Darragh O Donovan.

Well done to all from 3rd-6th who played in the competition and to Mr. Cronin and Mr. Power for organising the day.

James Tobin Football Shield

Today was a special day in our school as it marked the first time the “James Tobin Memorial Shield” was played for. James was a big community man and a proud Shamrocks man. For many years he did a lot to support and progress Knockanore NS. He served on our Board of Management, raised Green flags as a local Councillor and contributed to and supported sports in particular in our school. Today was a day that we remember James and keep his name alive in our village by hosting this annual football tournament for the pupils of 3rd-6th class. Thank you to the Tobin family, Mairéad, Áine, Seamus, Doireann  Meabh and Fionn for joining us today to present the medals and shield to the winning team.
